Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI am not sure what post processing you did on this picture, but boy is it ever dramatic and beautiful. It makes it even more interesting that I know that building and street. Did you find superman? Excellent, excellent picture. 19 Aug 2008 5:53am @Marion: Thanks Marion! Honestly, I didn't do much in the way of processing...just a slight blur and desaturation with curves. As for Superman, no...still looking ;-) @Zygene: Merci, Zygene :) Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaVery apt title blue, and speaking of blue, I love the flash of this in the image, quite a haunting image... I love how you have processed this, very creative! 19 Aug 2008 5:54am @Kylie Greenan: Thanks so much Kylie...funny that you mention haunting as hotel with the blue roof is haunted, at least one wing of it is. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Stateswow!! what a view!! just powerful and absorbing! the way this is composed, the 2 gigantic buildings funnel the eye right to the center -- quickly, forcefully and voila! there is the marvelous blue-roofed gem! just fantastic! and those barren branches add a marvelous and eerie fairy tale sentiment... there could be some sort of wicked witch or bad Disney character that lives there... and then the vast and open sky beyond. marvelous light! marvelous glow... marvelous capture! bravo! 19 Aug 2008 5:57am @dj.tigersprout: Thanks so much DJ! That hotel with the blue roof is really quite and amazing building. It seem that no matter where you go in the city there is a glimpse of it somewhere, even if just peaking through some of the other buildings. It's a favourite subject of mine. Erik from Amersfoort, NetherlandsVery nice composition and pov, and indeed amazing procesing job ! 19 Aug 2008 6:38am @Erik: Thanks so much Erik, and as I was telling Marion, I really didn't do much in the way of processing, it was a dark and gloomy day. @Veronelle: Thanks so very much, Veronelle. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaAGain, I love this, but pray tell, tell me superman isn't hiding as a bureaucrat ;) 19 Aug 2008 1:35pm badlydrawnboy from Oakland, United StatesI was struck by this picture this morning. I am definitely drawn to the moody, atmospheric vibe. For kicks, keep an eye out for my picture tomorrow - they're very similar. 19 Aug 2008 3:20pm Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, CanadaI love the beauty of the old building against the square starkness of the new. Wonderful processing. 19 Aug 2008 3:44pm Paul van der Meer from Valkenswaard, NetherlandsWow what a amazing shot, my compliments! 19 Aug 2008 4:11pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaNice - yes, I can imagine Superman swooping down there. 19 Aug 2008 5:13pm Marhilde from Geraardsbergen, BelgiumGreat shot this one. Good composition and point of view ! Nice colors (or lacking in colors) ! 19 Aug 2008 5:38pm Rui from Leiria, PortugalWOW How fantastic. This composition is so powerful. Amazing work 19 Aug 2008 5:51pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesLove the title:-) It does kind of remind me of Gotham City. I like how we're looking between the dark buildings at the soft colors in the light. This is wonderful. 20 Aug 2008 1:22am desolate | metropolis from Boston, United StatesVery cinematic, I can totally picture superman flying around the corner. 20 Aug 2008 2:38am amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaEXCELLENT!!
