613photo from Dallas, United StatesNice one. That wall makes the kids look even smaller in comparison. I love the feel of this photo. The bright white snow, the dark stones. Makes me want to jump right into it. 27 Dec 2008 5:15am @613photo: Thank you :) EYES WIDE SHUT from A corner of Utopia, United KingdomOne of my favourite David Sylvian tracks. A big fan of his, since the days of 'Life in Tokyo' with Japan. A superb photograph. Incredible contrasts of white snow and dark bodies, works wonderfully. A perfect ambience to the scene. A really first class post. 27 Dec 2008 5:19am Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesVery cool shot, Sharon. But aside from the all photographic aspects and details.... Uhhh, I just want to jump in a huge pile of snow! Lucky little dudes out there! (usually we do Whistler for New Year, but not this one. Miss it!) 27 Dec 2008 6:08am Marcah from Quincy, United StatesLove the symmetry and the contrast and of course the composition. 27 Dec 2008 6:12am Pradeep from Chennai, IndiaNice shot. Thats a lot of snow. For a sec i thought they were kids :) 27 Dec 2008 6:35am @Pradeep: Thank you :) Scott from San Martin, United StatesGreat image it makes me want to stay inside and keep warm! A mute dialogue between silent people and the set... The characters are so concentrated on their pace, something very strange comes out of it - a mood, the best thing ever in a picture for sure** 27 Dec 2008 8:56am Anna.C from LA ROCHELLE, FranceI love the symmetry of your composition and the beautiful contrasts, a deep special mood comes out of this picture 27 Dec 2008 10:04am zOOm from Paris, FranceA snow... so white againt the dark rocks ! There's so much snow ! Wow ! 27 Dec 2008 10:32am JJ from Jersey City, United Statesso much snow must be so hard to try and get around, wonderful capture 27 Dec 2008 11:18am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaGhost and Souls, I love it, almost sounds like ghouls...enhancing this intriguins image lol ;) 27 Dec 2008 1:33pm john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesWonderful shot. The two people really add to the photograph. (Are you digging out?) 27 Dec 2008 2:49pm Ivar from Indianapolis, United StatesA cool moody shot indeed, a lot of "ghostly" atmosphere in it. The snow and wall really make the two persons look like kids... Nice, here it has been raining the last couple of days, your pic makes me wonder how it would have been if it had been snow instead :) 27 Dec 2008 3:24pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesVery effective capture, Sharon. That's a lot of snow. Last night at bedtime our temperature was 66 degrees fahrenheit and right now it's 67 degrees fahrenheit. I know what it's like to be in harsh winters though from growing up in Ohio. It's a full time job fighting the elements. Right now I'm expecting a tornado. The pillars in your capture remind me of huge ice cream cones. Love the capture. 27 Dec 2008 3:50pm grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomVery nicely framed 27 Dec 2008 5:04pm Cheryl from Texas, United Statesthis is a very dramatic image, so glad the human element was added ! 27 Dec 2008 5:32pm beanow from PolandThis once again: I clicked for quickly...:) 27 Dec 2008 5:44pm Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, CanadaThat is a bit of snow for you spoiled southern kiddies. Now up here beyond Hope . . . . 27 Dec 2008 6:18pm JoeB from Brampton, CanadaI can see that some are not used to the snow, umbrella, just adds to the gloom. In the past Vancouverites have bragged about playing golf in the winter, so its nice to see that their getting a full Canadian winter this year. :) 27 Dec 2008 6:58pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomAs though the pillars are silently watching the people trudging in the snow. Very good BW. 27 Dec 2008 11:50pm Pixim from Nice, FranceI like the recall of the two characters trying to cut through a path by these two so valiant pillars in front of the weather conditions ;) 28 Dec 2008 4:05pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaLove the form of the posts echoed in the umbrella; it really makes you feel the weight of the snow. 29 Dec 2008 9:24pm Suzanne from Huntington Bch, United StatesWhat a great capture. The way the walkers' feet don't show emphasizes the depth of the snow. I also love the effect of the snow atop those 2 pillars...like a pair of ice cream cones. 30 Dec 2008 1:17am Andrew Gould from Sydney, AustraliaI've just come here via your link from the more recent companion photo of this one. It appears to be taken from the opposite direction. They do make a great pair. Beautiful work, as usual. 13 Jan 2009 10:27am |
