Matt Sutton from Sydney, AustraliaJust brilliant Sharon. I love the focus on the birds that appear to be smaller and maybe further away. This is really great. 17 Feb 2009 5:04am @Matt Sutton: Thanks Matt. They were very co-operative with creating their own optical illusion :) micke bergling from Swedenbeautifully with the silhouette of the birds (doves?) like it, the text of the Cohen is good 17 Feb 2009 5:06am @micke bergling: Thank you micke! No, not doves...just pigeons :/ sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesExceptional composition....what an image. 17 Feb 2009 5:12am Tammy/Cricket from Huntsville, United StatesWonderful words to go with such a mystical photograph. 17 Feb 2009 5:14am Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesI like those little birds. The big ones look like they might be from the Hitchcock version. 17 Feb 2009 5:36am john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesNeat capture, Sharon! Love the strong contrast! 17 Feb 2009 5:38am ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statescould be the drunks from the choir : ] best...jerry 17 Feb 2009 6:02am @ordinaryimages: With those voices? Absolutely ;-) Krims@nline.be from wemmel, BelgiumVery 'Alfred Hitchcock' :-) Wonderfull, well done! 17 Feb 2009 6:45am Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandOh how very clever indeed!! Just wonderful:-) 17 Feb 2009 6:51am Toni from Eastern Washington, United StatesWhen this image opened, before I saw your title, I immediately thought "birds on a wire" (from the movie, though, not the song). Excellent capture! 17 Feb 2009 6:57am yz from Budapest, Hungarybig wow! 17 Feb 2009 8:06am Mathilde from Fontainebleau, FranceQuelques petites notes de musique en partition croisées! j'aime beaucoup! 17 Feb 2009 8:08am k@ from Paris, FranceA marvel ! Like in a motion picture (italian from the 50's ?), with that background like a screen behind - gives a depth and power that I enjoy utterly ! 17 Feb 2009 8:20am -1q5yChØt!c- from Persia, Iranwow, this is very wonderful and amazing shot,we called this bird "Yakarim" or "Musa Ku Taghi" in our language ;)... 17 Feb 2009 8:23am Elodie from Rennes, FranceVery beautiful photo ! Love the composition, and the subject... really excelent ! 17 Feb 2009 10:05am gelfoto from Madrid, SpainAlthough they seem to me doves, they remember crows and the film to me “the birds” of Alfred Hitchcock. The backlighting is perfect. The two crossed diagonals bring about a certain threat. Brilliant. Greetings 17 Feb 2009 10:37am mo.langel from Courtelary, SwitzerlandSuperbe composition! Un beau croisement de pigeons! :O) 17 Feb 2009 10:59am Alessandro from Calci (PI), ItalyIf you pull off another shot like this one, I am going to kill you. Seriously. :) 17 Feb 2009 11:10am @Alessandro: You are making me laugh so hard! Thank you :) zOOm from Paris, FranceExcellent compo, graphic ! Well doen for this marvellous DOF. It really looks like there's a juxtaposition of images ! 17 Feb 2009 11:41am Peter Miller from Lichfield, United KingdomCould be the front cover of a horror novel, love it, works great in mono with excellent central DOF 17 Feb 2009 12:00pm EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomTruly an exceptional photograph Sharon, stunning on every level. Not to forget that small beautiful poem. 17 Feb 2009 2:23pm Thomas @ bipsie from Breda, NetherlandsNice how you've play with some basics here, the b/w and lines & silhouettes. Cool photo this is. 17 Feb 2009 2:27pm Marcah from United StatesFascinating creation and capture. Makes me think of the Alfred Hitchcock movie. The Birds ":o) 17 Feb 2009 3:03pm hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongWhat can I say? Such an extraordinary image and brilliant composition!!! 17 Feb 2009 3:14pm Daniel from Toronto, CanadaGreat composition. This looks like something out of a Alfred Hitchcock movie. 17 Feb 2009 3:20pm Susan from Savannah, United StatesExcellent framing and perfect title. Pigeons - and you managed to keep them still while shooting. Very well trained indeed ;-) Love the diagonal you've found. 17 Feb 2009 4:56pm Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainExtraordinary composition, you had good eye to catch it. 17 Feb 2009 5:36pm Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomSo simple but wonderfully effective . . pigeons always seen to watching . . waiting . . 17 Feb 2009 6:36pm NADINE DERUYCK from KLUISBERGEN, BelgiumBRILLIANT !!!! E X C E L L E N T composition 17 Feb 2009 7:07pm Phototherapy from SwitzerlandHitchcok delirium :) 17 Feb 2009 9:12pm JoeB from Brampton, CanadaUnique in the crisscross pattern instead of the usual straight line of birds. Anything by Leonard Cohen grabs my attention, recently he donated $200,000 for relief for those caught in the Australian fires. Might be familiar with the film McCabe and Mrs. Miller which lines the soundtrack with the songs of Cohen, it was filmed in the B.C. interior. 17 Feb 2009 9:15pm Thierry Masson from orly, Franceincredible and quite scaring! these birds are waiting for my end to share my hide, 17 Feb 2009 9:31pm Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesBrilliant!! Amazing image! Like a shadow theatre with the audience in the foreground in the birdie world. I am still trying to figure out how the shadowy birds in the background came out to be so huge? 17 Feb 2009 9:43pm Polydactyle from CanadaYou take me by the feelings with this song by Leonard Cohen! Your composition is superb. 17 Feb 2009 11:35pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesVery disconcerting....sort of a background/foreground shift. My eyes want the out of focus birds to be in the background but their size conflicts with that interpretation. 18 Feb 2009 12:39am Ivar from Indianapolis, United StatesGreat song and a great image, the sharp and out of focus mix is great. Very nice. 18 Feb 2009 1:59am baobab from Cambridge, United Statesbeautiful shot - wonderful composition and I like the subtle effect of the bokeh and the sense that the larger birds are somehow less solid, more shadows... and who else could it be but Leonard Cohen (though this song always makes me think of Johnny Cash's broken ruined old voice version) 18 Feb 2009 2:47am Michael Paulison from United StatesOh man... ominous. Running to a phone booth! The varied distances and sharpness makes this really interesting. Very nice! I can really only think of one thing. 18 Feb 2009 3:39am Ian Bramham from Manchester, United KingdomI love this composition and mood Sharon! 18 Feb 2009 2:39pm grant from kansas city, United Statesi was singing that song as soon as i saw the shot - and what a shot! 19 Feb 2009 4:54am Ilan from IsraelThis is outstanding! 20 Feb 2009 3:43pm Doum from Saint-Alexandre d'Iberville, CanadaIts difficult to believe of an optical illusion! The camera cannot be deceived... Really nice shot. Bravo. 24 Feb 2009 3:24pm dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United StatesOOH!!! the things i have missed by being out of pocket!!! oh BC this is just glorious!!! at once ominous and yet, magically enchanting!!! a PERFECT combination in visual imagery!!! and i am so thrilled to see that your are receiving the due credit / recognition of your simply fantastic photo talents!! bravo BC, bravo, bravo, bravo!!! :) x 3 Apr 2009 1:05pm Pavan Kaul from Mumbai, IndiaEach time I see pigeons on wires this image flashes before my eyes...so powerful and haunting! 12 Sep 2009 2:51am |
