beanow from PolandI look at this onraz and will I admit that I do not know what to think: dummies this or nation..., and maybe dummy and man...? Excellent framed. 22 Mar 2009 5:32am Jean-François from Les Issambres, Francesuperbe cadrage pou un monde aseptisé ............... et énigmatique ! j'aime ! 22 Mar 2009 5:40am Hoshisato from Ealing, United KingdomI love the framing and composition; the dummies being slightly out of focus really contributes to the mpood of this photo. Amazing work! 22 Mar 2009 7:39am Alivia from Saint-Etienne, Franceelles semblent en prison !! longilignes, presque des fantômes.. 22 Mar 2009 8:06am Mathilde from Fontainebleau, FranceEtonnant et mystérieux! Belle ambiance pour ce N/B!! 22 Mar 2009 8:21am k@ from Paris, FranceSome plastic people look more real than human beings - please see above ;/ Love the textures & light blur through the glass* 22 Mar 2009 9:14am @k@: Thank you K. Yes, I agree they most certainly do. There is just something about mannequins that I personally find fascinating. Lydie et Roland from BESANCON, FranceI adore the legend for this one ! I don't anderstand how you made it, but it's fine !!!! 22 Mar 2009 9:21am Stef67 from in my head, Franceelle est sublime celle ci, l ambiance fantomatique est lyrique ^^ 22 Mar 2009 9:36am zOOm from Paris, FranceInteresting silhouettes with this B&w of yours... they somehow look alive ! 22 Mar 2009 10:12am P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomAre you sure this is not a shop window in Amsterdam, no, it cant be, they are dressed. Nevertheless, these two almost look real and this is accentuated by the blur effect so you cannot tell if they are real or not. Super image 22 Mar 2009 10:25am @P J W Miller: Thank you Peter. No blurred effect here just a conversion to greyscale and a slight vignetting. I really should go look at the exhibit inside the art gallery to see what it's all about though, as it does look rather interesting. Philip from Joburg, South AfricaI hope so ! another excellent capture the blank background really makes them stand out :) 22 Mar 2009 10:47am john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesAbsolutely terrific, Sharon! One could reflect on this photograph and its title for a lifetime! 22 Mar 2009 1:39pm Ajay from Pune, IndiaBeautifully composed. I love how you've faded from places. I was just about to ask what`s inside but then read your response to PJ and realized you have not seen it yet. Lately there has been a lot of display in the art world about the mannequins. Mostly photography, but please go and see if this is any other and share. 'Plastic people' are very intriguing. I almost feel as when everyone goes to sleep at night they come to life and have some interesting action going on. 22 Mar 2009 3:58pm Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomI second the urge to go see . . there is a haunting, lost look to these two which is the response-opposite of what we would normally see 'displayed'. Really makes me wonder what it's all about. Fascinating and engaging shot. 22 Mar 2009 4:05pm Anna.C from LA ROCHELLE, FranceThey seem to be alive ! an intriguing and fascinating image at the same time ! nice captured ! 22 Mar 2009 5:07pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesWell done. Great compo and textures. 23 Mar 2009 12:13pm catherine buca from United KingdomThis is perfect. Of course it's all make-believe, dah-ling. 23 Mar 2009 5:45pm Luis A. De Jesus R. from Mexico City, MexicoAre they real? I like how the bw strikes a cord at the dire state of modern human affairs. I also think of all those people who have sadly founded their lives on consumption and having to maintain a happy high only to have the root of their contentment pulled out from unde their feet. Not only does the world need a new economic paradigm, it needs a solid new philosophy of living. 24 Mar 2009 10:55pm @Luis A. De Jesus R.: Luis, thank you for you wonderful words and thoughts. No, they are not real, they are mannequins in a display at The Vancouver Art Gallery, on the outside of the building and way up high. I really don't know what the exhibit is, but I hope to check it out this upcoming weekend. I can't agree with you more on the state of the world and the overall and general attitude of people these days. The world needs to step back and take pause, and get a grip on what is important. Values/respect have been thrown entirely out the window and I feel for the most part it's completely out of control. Phototherapy from SwitzerlandI read your comment on mannequins and wanted to let you know that I stayed 2 min. without knowing if real or unreal, I share your fascination. 26 Mar 2009 9:23pm @Phototherapy: I am glad I am not the only one that lingers for several minutes at a time studying mannequins. Not to sound odd, but they are very real to me, how they become part of whatever scene they are there to create. Thanks, Charles :) Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesSad what the world did to her --Marilyn Monroe. 28 Mar 2009 10:03pm dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Stateswow -- so surreal!! and i just read your volley with Luis -- i am in 100% accordance!!! but you and i have connected over issues of the same philosophical degree several times in the last near 12 months!! all the best to you!! :) x 3 Apr 2009 1:09pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United States"Not only does the world need a new economic paradigm, it needs a solid new philosophy of living." Luis is right of course. Unfortunately, the criminals running the show like things the way they are. 5 May 2009 8:35pm |
