I love whitman words... This is perferctly illustrated here, we are in the shadow but illuminated, because facing the light. Our eye are first looking to the far left, then follow the whole perspective, to stop (and stay) in the right square, where they feel themself well.

Wonderful composition and light and shadow, Sharon. Superb detail in the right foreground door and wall. Whitman was the quintessential 19th Century American poet. I devoured him when I was younger.
