@dj.tigersprout: thanks so much dj!
When I shot this I wanted to create something somewhat alien, with the larger than life poppies towering over the bench. This is actually someone's yard that I came across on one of my lunch hour walks. So okay, keeping the 'alien' thing in mind, I wanted it to seem kind of surreal as well, like a strange journey through places unknown. Enter the Nina Simone song "Poppies", and thinking to myself, "hmmm, how appropriate" and so I borrowed a line from that song and a title was born. On my flickr stream I pretty much use song lyrics, quotes or poetry to accompany my images, as I did on this one. I get my inspiration from music... :)
faaabulous! thanks for the detailed reply! brings even more depth to an already striking photo! :) i, too, get my inspiration from music! hurray for that!

@dj.tigersprout: you are welcomed :)
Yes...music, I think it's what keeps most of us going and (somewhat) sane.
I agree with Em!ly Ng, a memorable image. It appears to me, one flower has turned its back on the other and is brooding — can poppies actually brood? — on the bench.
Cheers, bluechameleon, your photostream is a treasure to wonder through!
I could comment on many of you images, but this one caught my eye. Your overall portfolio is brilliant, and your overall theme is very strong throughout. Overall I would say your images are both intimate and alienating, inviting and disturbing at the same time. Your sense of composition is powerful. Enjoyed it, great work.
