"The skies of day and night
colours, densities, forms,
may-be these are
(as doubtless they are)
only apparitions, and the real
something has yet to be known"

I can't decide if he's coming or going. A haunting and intriguing image. Love that glow and that flooring.

Nice "dark" atmosphere here... We can imagine a story - before - after... I like that !
12 Nov 2008 6:35am
Good illustration for the verses of Whitman, or good verses to this image :)
I like the b/w and the shadows that give sense to the idea of a different kind of knowñedge. It remembers also te platonic cavern.

wonderful image Bc. masterful work from you. very inspiring !
12 Nov 2008 6:41am
Fantastic image! Darkness sandwiched between light. Flesh and form against brick. Could that be Rod Serling in the passage way?
12 Nov 2008 6:53am
i would have a terrible doubt of appearances if i was in a dark alley and a shadowy figure showed up and blocked the exit lol... your subject matter is always just as incredible as your technique.. just masterful bc!
12 Nov 2008 7:09am
A cold draught is blowing through the wet passageway, how many people have passed this way...! A good thought provoking creation.
12 Nov 2008 7:19am
beautiful contrast! Great shot. The mystery is overwhelming..

You really have surpassed yourself with this photo - it is just magnificent!

Wow, this image almost has a sinister feel. Is the person at the end a friend or a foe? Great job creating an amazing tension in this image!
12 Nov 2008 10:57am
Is that two people? I think I can see a second head (and maybe a leg), just to the right of the front guy's. Thanks for sharing.
12 Nov 2008 11:21am
@headlessness: Thanks so much James. Yes, this is actually an image of 2 people :)
I was going to say it appeared as two people, also. A real optical illusion in silhouette. Superbly effective, and full of intrigue. Very creative

Mysterious and nevertheless so explicit.
Very beautiful image !

What a dreamy and mysterious image! Inspiring!

The unusually mysterious place... Beautiful perspective and light. Bravo!
12 Nov 2008 4:48pm
After a long journey through the dark and narrow passage it feels overwhelming and possibly relieving to enter this bright infinite world somehow familiar. All he has been is a shadow all he will become is a light.
12 Nov 2008 5:09pm
Like a scene from an old Hitchcock movie...I can easily imagine the scary music. Great shot, Steph.
12 Nov 2008 5:35pm
Looks like a nightmare. You work wonders with images like this.
12 Nov 2008 6:39pm
I agree with Paco. The verses of Whitman match this image or vice versa.
12 Nov 2008 6:57pm
I wouldn't be surprised to see this image be spotlighted... !

Hello Sharon, if I can allow, this photograph is the obvious result of the photo “He contemplated his fate”, indeed, I find there all these “moment of life” represented by these bricks, except that this time, they are behind. The man arrives at one key moment of his life, a passage to be realized, another life to be found. I adore the unfolding of the person so much, surely that will start again, worse, it will have tested. Death is the life, perhaps… I excuse myself in advance for the length of my comment, that expresses my opinions when I see your photographs ;)

Love the mood in this one, dark and dangerous! :-)
12 Nov 2008 9:52pm
An image full of drama and more than a touch of danger . . love the presentation and use of light here.
12 Nov 2008 10:52pm
Beautiful! I like the contrast and blurry form of a man at the end of the tunnel.
Also the herringbone brick against those on the wall.
12 Nov 2008 11:23pm
There is light at the end of the tunnel! You expressed the atmosphere really well!
12 Nov 2008 11:32pm
Bestial, me encanta el dramatismo que le has aplicado, saludos.
12 Nov 2008 11:51pm

13 Nov 2008 1:43am
Remind me of Hichcock movies, mysterious! As always, very well captured!
13 Nov 2008 3:55am
I love the play on light here! I am a huge fan of B&W - The bricks in this shot have the texture you can almost feel them.
13 Nov 2008 4:20am
Great play on shadows. You never cease to amaze me!!!!! =)
13 Nov 2008 7:05am
At first sight seems to be one person. A second one shows two... that's, despite the ligthting and excellent composition, what makes this great photo.
13 Nov 2008 6:49pm
Love the way the textures of the brick walls and pavers come alive here. The silhouetted figures give the shot a sense of foreboding.
18 Nov 2008 3:35pm
amazing ...cant say my feelings about this capture...
one world : Adorable !
