"I only know that a rook
Ordering its black feathers can so shine
As to seize me senses, haul
My eyelids up, and grant
A brief respite from fear
Of total neutrality."

Fantastic b/w... love the added layer. But it's the tranquility of silence I find so profound.
Thanks so much for the link for the textures... been having a hay day with them. ;-)

There is a divine, brooding darkness here that excites and draws me in. Natural beauty with a slight twist. The tree almost has a life of it's own, perhaps seizing the opportunity of the sanctuary of silence to dance in the snow, away from the others who have warned her that such folly is for the weak of mind and heart.
A superb photograph, and as always, your images make me look deeply, and think

Perfect the Black and white one. The intense black are beautiful. That dispersed snow on the trees, completes the volume perfectly.
A greeting

I enjoy the combination of your pic & Sylvia Plath, that white foreground and the mysterious hidden background behind the trees... We're expecting something or someone coming out of it...

Moody piece. My first thought was The Wolf Hides Within. As always I love the tones contrast and composition.

Wonderful capture, the snow on the branches of the tree, and the dark in the centre almost seem to me like it has its arms wide welcoming one into the darkness of the tree, Superb work

I could be wrong but it looks like you added a texture layer. If so it's subtle and well done. Love the deep shadows in the trees....they're inviting but scary
