Wonderful candid. Love the gulls walking on the ice.

It must be really confusing to the gulls when webbed feet meet the ice that is normally liquid. A beautiful photograph, Sharon.

This is the second time I've seen birds walking on ice. I never thought about it until I saw the other image. Nice capture...love the blue.

The way I see things is, if humans can go ice skating then why can't birds? I like the diagonal line, makes for a good composition.

On ouvre tous nos ailes, pour tenir en équilibre sur le sol bleu et glacé de ces matins d'hiver ...

To walk down that pillow of angel feathers is such a sweet dream... Love the blue icy tones here and the dynamic pace we can feel between mom & daughter almost purchasing seagulls... An air of early morning, as if right out of bed and pillow*

Perfect composition. The diagonal and the silhouettes emphasize the composition. Cold color. Beautiful image.

Wonderfully stark frame and then that little wedge of sun by way of contrast

I like the upward angle in this photo of angels.

Very nice tonality. If you don't feel cold looking at this, you aren't paying attention!
8 Jan 2009 5:23pm
Brrrr... Cold is the word that ocurres me... This blue color is perfect for this scene.
8 Jan 2009 5:27pm
I like this so much . . the sky-lit scene with the sliver of sunlight and the expanse of ice . . and the hungry birds a'waiting.
8 Jan 2009 5:45pm

Beautiful Lake and the two people who walk ... the best part of the photo is the angle you found

Very atmospheric. The blue adds nicely to the chilliness of the image. Well done, as usual!
8 Jan 2009 10:28pm
I like how the two people are walking toward the small patch of warm light.
9 Jan 2009 12:25am
Beautiful capture. The cool blue tone adds so much to this image.

Lovely picture, great tones and the ice and birds make an interesting composition.

Is that a ray of light at the edge, even angels take their fur coats out in icy blue times.
9 Jan 2009 2:57am
@JoeB: Yes, that is a ray of light. It was a bright sunny day (cold!) and I caught these two in the shadows.
Lovely shot - I enjoy the echo of bird's wings in the form of the woman on the right.

Strong angles (angels?). The graphic element seems to be coming towards, while the figures are moving away. The tension is held while the birds stand on the water - frozen. So many anomolies.
9 Jan 2009 6:31am
Beautiful. We can feel the cold in this shot. I love it.
9 Jan 2009 1:23pm
i keep coming back to look at this one. that little patch of sunlight on the path gives this wonderful image just a bit extra.
14 Jan 2009 11:26pm
It's the posture of the center figure, I think, and the blue, that makes this affective.
