Wonderful Sharon. Is the light source from a streetlight? love your title as the light is appearing to come from many angles but centered. great !

@Matt Sutton: Thank you Matt. There is a single light on the wall of the church, kind of like a lantern. I propped myself up against a light standard, held my breath (so not to move) and tripped the shutter. I really need to start carrying a tripod, but at least this worked.
Beautiful image & quote, they marry so well, and that's SO true that shadows are the other side of Light, both from the same face - your pictures proove it so often and so wonderfully...

Out of the shadows, which danced across the scene with the elegance of skaters across the glistening ice, a bright light shone which captivated Sharon's eyes. For a moment she stood transfixed, lost to an ocean of contemplation as images tumbled and twirled in the confines of her mind.
Was this the right thing to do?
There was still time to turn back, to change her mind and play safe instead of throwing caution to the wind. The years of playing dutiful daughter in the house that was not a home had all but worn the defiance from her soul, and it was all she could do not to give in to the innevitable and return to her life of monotonous conformity.
Just then, from the shadows, a figure moved into the light, like an angel to Sharon's eyes as she raised a hand and shielded her eyes from the haze as it bounced from Luke's body towards her. He smiled, that smiled that always melted her heart. They moved towards each other and embraced.
Freedom beckoned....... ( Can you guess that I simply love this photograph, Sharon)

Light is everywhere, difficult is capture it, and even more difficult is capture the shadows, as you did.
25 Jan 2009 5:06pm
Excellent capture, and composition... I too find myself propping myself against a root, pole or what not to keep myself steady when taking the picture.
Excellent words too, always understand that where there is shadow there is light nearby.
Great work

I see from the exif data that you had to use (undoubtedly) a slow shutter speed in this low light situation. The mysteriousness of this hint of light is remarkable. A very intriguing image!

I love that thought, and will remember it. You have accomplished much in exploiting this light. Nicely done.
