"The Ox is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work, something that could only help us through these tough economic times. This is a powerful sign and those born under it are considered born leaders, quite dependable and possesses an innate ability to achieve great things." (text from nola.com)

You have commenters using terms like frightening and scary and intimidating --he just looks happy to me, even if it's sort of maniacal happy.

@Twelvebit: Yes, and I agree. For me...he is laughing his fool head off, in a crazed kind of manner, and I love that :)

I lived in Hong Kong for close to 30 years and this is not the image of an ox...you could say that it is full of bull.
27 Jan 2009 10:28pm
@étranger: Ah! True, true...I never did say it was an ox though, just that it's the 'year of the ox' :)
This statue is at the entrance to Chinatown in Victoria, BC and being that it's the start of the Chinese New Year, I thought it would be appropriate.
That's a dramatic angle you have chosen... very strong B&W image.
27 Jan 2009 11:23pm
Strong compo, the huge statue in front and the entrance arch in Chinatown in background.
