Will be to arrive at where we started
And know the place for the first time."

This is so perfectly composed. I love the repetition in the trees and benches and the lone figure with his dog adds just the right touch.

Beautifully shot bc:-)

Excellent, moody tones. Wonderfully composed. Man and friend are oblivious to your presence it seems.
5 Feb 2009 5:37am
@Marcah: ...thank you. It seems like everyone here has a dog.
A wonderful atmosphere here. Love that lone figure.
5 Feb 2009 5:56am

5 Feb 2009 6:10am
magnifique chef d'oeuvre ! formidable et émouvant .....
5 Feb 2009 6:16am
Wow, this is superb. Love the perspective, great mistery atmosphere. Well done!
5 Feb 2009 6:39am
The mottled light cast on that first tree makes this shot explode for me- that creates an uncanny depth that is really a counterpoint to the depth implied by the perspective. That little detail makes this shot a unique capture (you and perhaps no one else will ever be able to replicate it) and an extremely powerful image. Congrats!

It could happen whatsoever in this atmosphere -a fantastic image !
5 Feb 2009 7:19am
This is a gorgeous fog image. Excellent composition and really well done.
5 Feb 2009 7:44am
I have said before that you live in the twilight zone Sharon. Simply beautiful as always
5 Feb 2009 7:45am
Nice alignment of trees, benches... following this solitary walker and his dog... There's a light on the first tree which gives a special depth to the the whole image, it empowers somehow the whole perspective, diagonal made by the waterfront... wonderfully composed (as usual Sharon !) ;-)

Romantic. Epic. Magician. Fabulous black and white.
Greetings

Love this one a lot ! So soft and powerful at the same time, foggy feelings and that sllhouette crossing them in a quiet pace, the dark bodies of the trees... Emotion sparkles... Plus I love the quote too ! Thanks for both**

Truly a stunning composition and it's got great feel to it with the fog.
5 Feb 2009 10:42am
Ha ha I have one lined up entitled 'Three benches', but yours beats me by four, and by being a far better shot, so I'm not going to post it now!
This is hugely atmospheric, Sharon, and immensely beautiful. So well captured and presented

what a great scene you've captured, the tones of grays are fab, and the mood just eery and wonderful...and the exquisite bare trees of winter...not sure why but as i've gotten older i like the bare trees as much, maybe even more than the full trees of spring and summer...there's something otherworldly about them...maybe they're trying to show us something?...
5 Feb 2009 11:20am
Sublime image! alignment of trees, benches, a man in the mist. Belle composition!
5 Feb 2009 11:52am
well seen and taken. the fog really adds a lot of mood to the image.
5 Feb 2009 12:04pm

The Eliot poem fits so perfectly this scene of solitude and beauty ... as always, you've captured an intriguing mood with your brilliant sense of composition and balance ... ron

While exploring the endlessly repeating pattern of lonely empty chairs, suddenly come upon the man with his companion that changes the mood dramatically... What an image of magic... thanks for the treat!
5 Feb 2009 2:10pm
Two worlds in here: the inner world, represented by the foreground, more suggested then really viewed, bounded by the benches and trees, with the human presence given by the tiny silhouette, and the outer world, seen through the trees, immersed in mist, even more suggested than viewed.

So beautiful that I did not find any good word for this art work ... I am happy that I can take part of it ..
5 Feb 2009 3:42pm
I like the repeated organic shapes of the trees, and whatever you did to capture the light on the closest tree. Vancouver is a place of mist and rain and outdoors and dogs...
5 Feb 2009 4:19pm
Excellent photo, if I was a book publisher I would use this as the cover of my next spy novel; maybe a book by Alan Furst or John Le Carré
5 Feb 2009 4:34pm
@TOm Sparks: Thank you Tom! Wow...how nice of you to stop by, what a wonderful surprise :)
what a wonderful image: the processing, composition, the fog and the overall feel. Very well captured.
5 Feb 2009 6:32pm
The words of T. S. Eliot give a special sense to this beautiful photo. All the elements of the composition, trees, fog, benches, man, dog, take a symbolic meaning very suggestive. Well done.
5 Feb 2009 6:40pm
Fantastic b/w image...has a noir-ish feel to it. Excellent!
5 Feb 2009 8:50pm
what a melancholy, seems the world will fade if I switch to my blog...
5 Feb 2009 9:39pm
Simply gorgeous. Love the timing on the walker and the fog/moodiness.
5 Feb 2009 10:42pm
Perfect. I have the impression that the trees will swallow the man and his dog. A real insipration for me...
5 Feb 2009 10:50pm
absolutely wonderful capture - the "feel" is wonderful!
5 Feb 2009 11:03pm
The fog creates a sense of calm and peace, but the diagonal line brings energy.
6 Feb 2009 12:06am
A magical shot with that perspective, content and light.
6 Feb 2009 2:15am
Great mood, love the benches lined up looking into the fog. Very cool
6 Feb 2009 2:49am

Beautiful composition. Truly stunning trees, you surely have captured their beauty.

Beautiful and B&W. This is one of those images that says very little in color.

Holy freakin' heck. That is a great shot. Wonderful tones.
10 Feb 2009 3:17am
Ho! Terrific shot! A mysterious ambiance plane over the park. The silhouette adds suspense...
