very strong picture...it's sad and well, it's not so evident that it's a broken hart, but at least a great sadness. The feeling is given by the bars, excellent picture

@10Fraction: Thank you. True! I really have no idea why this man is sad...but I do like to create little scenarios of the people that I shoot :)
Very poignant image. The bars and the b&w really add to the symbolism :)

You do excellent street shots. Really well captured.
18 Feb 2009 7:20am
the sadness is palpable and the bars look like a prison, even tho he's on the outside
18 Feb 2009 7:21am
Well said the shot is another example of a great SILO shot !!

Sometimes life breaks us and it is exactly this image, we are broken apart from the life of these bars! Beautiful poignant evocation!

These silhouettes are perfect. And the off-center taking I like. The grates and the position of the subject contribute all a history to this photography.
Greetings

Beautifully captured mood and great composition. Like in everyday life, sad feelings have to be put behind bars and locked away, in order to get on with your life... "It's smile time"...

This guy may just be reading a book or the newspaper but coupled with the railings and the dark atmosphere it surely does present the viewer with a feeling of unhappiness
18 Feb 2009 9:20am
The scenario you created here is very strong, indeed. Straight out of a great movie, romantic one, and I'm sure his sweetie will be back... Love the mood, so realistic !

So cool !! Love the story and the silhouette of a lonely man deep in thought. The lines and contrast are excellent Sharon.

Can't help but see a man contemplating a life locked away from something important.
Very nice composition.
18 Feb 2009 10:58am
Very strong image!!! Beautiful graphic B&W!
18 Feb 2009 11:08am
A picture in high emotion. I have the impression that this man is a prisoner of his misfortune. Good catch!
18 Feb 2009 12:52pm
this is very touching, it reaches my heart, bravo, well taken and named!!
18 Feb 2009 1:35pm
why this man has a broken heart? We do not know, but you create the scenario based on a picture, and imagine a story. The shape, position, scratches cross the barrier by the electric wire, the strong contrasts and this man sitting on the bench, his face looked. Like EWS, you could write a story. It is a strong picture, filled with emotions. Bravo.

Great emotion in this. even without the title you can feel the sense of solitude.
18 Feb 2009 2:08pm
Quelle bien triste vision que cette personne qui a l'air affligé. Cette photo reste néanmoins superbe. Le noir et blanc et les barreaux donnent encore plus d'émotions.
18 Feb 2009 2:28pm
No doubt this is an excellent shot. But I live the human touch here. The quote is just making it even more touchy.
18 Feb 2009 2:57pm
Great perspective and wonderful feel, Sharon.
18 Feb 2009 3:15pm
Feel sorry for him ... strong photo, even more because of the B&W and the bars!
18 Feb 2009 3:35pm
The picture tells the story in which you have written. Wonderful image.
18 Feb 2009 3:46pm

Superbe!

nice silhouette.........kind of a lonely image.
19 Feb 2009 1:54am
Perfect setting for this kind of image, the bars creating a locked away feel, while the shilouette gives the impression of sadness and despair... combined, they create a strong image.
19 Feb 2009 2:15am
