Polaroid Week 2009 has begun!
It's so windy today even the weight of my 340 Land Camera wasn't weighing me down. The film got stuck and I lost 2 frames and as I struggled I looked up to see myself surrounded by pigeons. Obviously, this shot worked.
My polaroid set can be seen here at flickr. I'll be adding a new shot to this set every day until Friday May 8th.

ooh -- i LOVE this!! it tells of motion, of movement, of vacancy -- it speaks of afternoons and long mornings, it speaks of conversation and isolation... generations upon generations, and an empty park bench w/ pigeons. i LOVE the title too -- perfectly matched BC!! faaabulous! (and happy polaroid week to you!!!) xx

the depth of fiels is very nice, leaving the birds in their environment without disturbing the main subject

Nice to see these chaps cleaning up after their human enemies although the birds can tend to leave their own mess, great POV on this

I love this shot even if I'm not a big fan of Pigeons. The shallow depth of field is focused perfectly. A great polaroid.

Nice capture. You must have dropped some bread crumbs!
5 May 2009 10:58am
Such a commonly seen gathering of the pigeons, but the the converging lines of the bench, paving, and wall, just adds that special touch.
5 May 2009 11:57am
Perfect title. Love the composition...and how you've personified these pigeons.

Well things happen for a reason I say, if the film hadn't got stuck this frame would never have happened! I like all sorts of images but every now and then one will really grab my attention, this is one of those frames!

5 May 2009 5:44pm

@grant: Thank you Grant. You do? I hope to see some of your polaroid shots soon then!
Like the depth and wide shot, tones are perfect. So the birds are hoping the humans will show up, soon.
5 May 2009 9:34pm
Taking a few moments to relax before they resume their flight :D
Great catch, can't believe you got so close without scaring them!
Nicely done!

Its great to see some people still use Polaroids! Its a part of photographic history that is fast disappearing sadly. Anyways love this shot!
6 May 2009 7:35pm
So many people don't like pigeons, but I've always thought they were interesting and pretty. They seem to choose good seats:-)
