OMG, this is gorgeous! A kayaker, a heron, rocks and calm waters; does this ever make me homesick for Juneau (and I have been gone for 25 years). This is when I wish that I had 6 stars to give.

Je vois un homme sur un kayak et un heron sur le dos du monstre du Loch Ness, jolie photo

Really nice... I'd just have cut 1 or 2 cm at th bottom of the picture....

@Lylou & Roland: Thank you, I was wondering about that. Perhaps I'll try the crop.
Fantastic!!! This image has it all!! Perfectly composed....wonderful calm water! Beautiful!

wonderful dark tones here -- the dark rock forms in the foreground hold the eye captive!! fantastic!! a beautiful, very personal moment here -- the kayaker and the heron, sharing a moment of peace and isolation amongst themselves... a private reverie if you will!! gorgeous work as always BC!!! :)

This is an excellent mono image, love the silhouettes of the canoeist, the rocks and of course that wonderful heron, which all combine so well, a very peaceful image

There's alaways a wonderful dark and light in your pictures Sharon, a mood, an atmosphere... your pictures are like travelling shoes, they just makes me fly over the ocean, it could be Vietnam or Indonesia... incredible.

Such strong elements in this image. Yet they all work well together. I can envision the kayaker quietly slicing across this scene. And the heron going un-noticed. Very well done. Enjoy your weekend.

forgotton dreams raise from the depth of the soul...
an archaic image, dark and magic. I like the heron (?) between the rocks.
15 May 2009 1:28pm
Excellent capture... the bird and the wake of the boat enforce the caption.
15 May 2009 1:33pm
It looks amazing. Great mood here! Just perfect timing

The heron and the kayaker, both great elements in the scene, are perfectly placed. Nice capture. Lovely light too.

Getting into the stroke of things...... Nice!

Sharon, the word serendipity comes to mind when I look at this picture. Such marvelous elements, seemingly unrelated, coming together at the precise moment. You rock girl!!! ;-)

I admire this picture! I would like to date execute a single picture as beautiful as yours!

A remarkable capture to get man and bird in the same picture. Lovely coastal setting with the prominent rocks. Well done.
15 May 2009 3:35pm
Minimalist and simple. A strong mood here...
15 May 2009 4:19pm
Our eyes follow the movement of the boat. Even the bird is looking in the same direction.
15 May 2009 4:38pm
Excellent capture with the bird and the boat. Love the silhouetting.

Perfection. I want to know why you aren't getting the Spotlight image EVERY day!
15 May 2009 8:15pm
such elegant composition. reminded me about the picture that won this year the spider award.. really.. i love it
15 May 2009 9:15pm
The first thing I saw was actually the bird, thought it was you tribute to the Loch Ness Monster and the boater is making an escape :) Anyway, that's just my imagination. Really great shot, especially the trail behind the canoe.

I love the darkness of your images. It is almost as I can tell your daily mood by the daily posts. The birds adds a lot to this image. As it is watching the passing boat, guarding it`s habitat.
15 May 2009 11:13pm
This is quite a remarkable image and the deep tones feel very peaceful.
