“A hundredth of a second here, a hundredth of a second there - even if you put them end to end, they still only add up to one, two, perhaps three seconds, snatched from eternity.”

In a hundredth of a second, they shot. In a hundredth of a second, a man was killed. In hundredth of a second, a hero has been made; and a villain.

I admire the rhythm of the black and white areas. I love the look of this one; yes, it has a wonderful timeless feel!

Thanks a lot for the quote, I do agree with that way of appreciating Time - and your photo is about timeless pleasure, ours ! taking not only our time but THE Time in the passage-ways of Life. Yum !

Beautiful shot. Love the antique feeling and the perspective that this is taken from.
19 Jun 2009 8:20am
Yes and that's the essence of the photography, freeze the time... snap your fingers ant then they'll start walking again...a magic trick. The high contrast b/w is perfect fot this shot, suitable treatment to give it the look of an old and classic photo. Brilliant.

With the architecture and processing this picture could be from any time and place. A real treat to the imagination.

Indeed, this single snatched moment is very documentary like in BW! Nicely done. :)

19 Jun 2009 8:33pm
At first really thought it is some of Doisneau's work actually...but then I saw that it was you Sharon with one more amazing, moody and meaningful photo...Great one!
19 Jun 2009 8:50pm

Bonjour,
Un petit air de Willy Ronis ,le cadre s'y prête tout à fait dans cette belle galerie ,ou les gens passent tous très pressés vers le point zéro de sortie, nimbés de la lumière naturelle.
Bien à toi de Picardie.

Love the quality of the black and white - it looks really super. Nice scene.
20 Jun 2009 1:43pm
Excellent, it seems to be a very old photo, I love the B/W too
20 Jun 2009 2:28pm
Beautiful flow in this frame. Both the people and the 'lines' all go to a central point - vanishing point.
Great work, the black and white is fantastic here.
20 Jun 2009 3:50pm
That's a telling quote about how long a moment might be and so very true . . that said, your own image looks timeless enough for the shutter to have been magically and selectively open for fifty years or more . . hee hee . .
20 Jun 2009 5:52pm
Wonderful, dynamic composition...Superb processing and a great quote!
20 Jun 2009 7:06pm
Fascinating perspective and brilliant composition. This image really grabs one's attention and I just love the symmetry and repeating architectural patterns.

20 Jun 2009 7:31pm
A beautiful image with a turn of the century feel to it. Twentieth Century that is. As always, the quote fits the image perfectly.
