"There are days when solitude is a heady wine that intoxicates you with freedom, others when it is a bitter tonic, and still others when it is a poison that makes you beat your head against the wall."

A good image for meditation...thought provoking and intriguing.

a nice walk.. she seems to be giving the message to leave her alone.. dramatic and storytelling =D

The only problem is the girl in black on a dark background.
But I love the idea ;)

@Ben: Thanks Ben. I do agree and was hoping for a little more light around the head. But it's a holga shot, and there are limitations, and perhaps that's what I like about it :)
Reminds me of Kerouac novels, and I love them. A grand image, superb in B&W as ever. Flawless.

Once again, a perfect duet quote and clever illustration you offer ! Ah, yes, solitude has at least 2 faces (3, yes...) like those dolls you could turn the head inside the hood, do you know this ? One face smiling, the other one crying, the last one sleeping... Maybe we have an inner button to press we did not find yet ?
Strong contrasts in your B&W that echoes the theme perfectly (black & white profiles of Solitude, yep.....)

I really love this image. It looks like a scene from a film.

As always your photographies have that special mixture of fantasy and dramatic quality, accompanied by black and white a very good one
Warm greetings

I love the lonely feeling here, even thought at first it 'frightened' me a bit (made me think of the Little Red Riding Hood and look for the wolf :) )
The photo is filled with mood, nicely done.

@Ilan: Many thanks Ilan! For your kind words and for the RT too :)
Those legs are hypnotic. Interesting quote. I puzzled about the title though. It brought out the pedant in me. Do you mean she is miles from anywhere or do you actually mean what you seem to have said, that she is very much somewhere? (sorry ;)
29 Jul 2009 10:18am
@grouser: Thanks so much. Actually she really is miles from nowhere, but then somewhere is always near by ;)
We need people to live, and we need solitude to realize we need people. And we need your photos too.

I often feel like that, what a photo, what a feeling, I love the mood shots of yours Blue!
29 Jul 2009 11:44am
Wonderful mood you've captured/created. Love the stark contrast between the darks and lights.

Your image looks like coming out of a movie... Great picture Sharon, emulating imagination, is it the beginning or the end of a story. Everything is possible and everything can be imagined. A travel itself.

29 Jul 2009 1:16pm
very nice work. great with the endless road and blur in the picture!
29 Jul 2009 2:24pm
your picture to me represents life, the winding roads, go straight ahead, always forward, without looking back, you have this sensitivity, which are the major photographers, a witness emotion, and who know the retranscrire!
miles thank you for your photos, Sharon!
kisses!

You transfer the loneliness of a broken herat (to me). And i love it so much beeing touched by a capture, thank you my friend!
29 Jul 2009 7:03pm
A magical and thought-provoking quote - with the perfect image to back it up. Love this, Sharon, just love it!
29 Jul 2009 7:27pm
this image and your quote remind me about on thought a friend of mine shared with me today.. she said that now, after another once again failed relationship, realized that she doesn't want to be perceived like a strong woman, independent and always free that can handle any situation. after 30 years of doing this she is tired and she finally understood that the meaning of life is in two. go figure.. just wanted to share this thought after i've seen the photo.. a beautiful, moody shot.. well done

29 Jul 2009 8:20pm
The road appears to be going off into oblivion. Nicely done.
29 Jul 2009 9:36pm
Nice excerpt again. I think in the scenario of this photo, it's the joy of the freedom for the walker and the photographer :)
29 Jul 2009 10:43pm
and then are days like today where it's 33 at the airport! nice composition btw.
30 Jul 2009 3:17am
@photodreamz: Yes, days like that. 33 at the airport and 43 in the bus I rode home on! Thank you...hope your vacation was fun!
very pretty picture Sharon (even tho i think maybe it's downtown rather than miles from nowhere lol)

Donde llevara este camino en el que deambula la protagonista sin rumbo... buen trabajo.

Masterful shot here. I really like how you are able to put a story and toss in some emotion along with these creations. Nice job.
31 Jul 2009 5:19am
Great shot but I would like to have a bit more light on the girl. Other than that, it's a very well executed idea.
