“Imagination is always the fabric of social life and the dynamic of history. The influence of real needs and compulsions, of real interests and materials, is indirect because the crowd is never conscious of it.”

Wonderful POV and composition...love that powerful silhouette of the man on the left, mysterious and enticing...great light...magical!

Interestingly composed...the deep B&W seems to have a message, as does the crowd...
it has either a mystical or menacing feeling about it...unconscious, as it says in your quote.

I imagine menacing. best...jerry

I always love your street shots, Sharon. Always so complex, with lots of action and stories to tell, great light and drama. I saw that you have this tagged as Seattle and I'm trying to figure out where it is! Wonderful work, as always.

a fantastic streetphotography shot! to the title east side story: one song in in my ear:
"You better run you better do what you can
don't wanna see no blood don't be a macho man
you wanna be tough better do what you can
so beat it but you wanna be bad
Just beat it beat it
no one wants to be defeated
showing how funky strong is your fight
it doesn't matter who's wrong or right
just beat it just beat it "

@Ken: Thanks so much Ken...appreciated :)
The game of lights and shades is skillful. The resistance and those hard shades give all the character to this urban taking. You dominate the Black and white one perfectly
Warm greetings

WOW, cool shot, were you JUST in Seattle? I have never sen that many people in post alley before. This was the spot where I took the first photo that got me hooked so seeing this shot by someone else is awesome!

@Brian Chen: Hi Brian, and thank you. Yes, I was just in Seattle this past weekend. Well, I got lucky with this shot, the light and the people, that is for certain. I love this part of town, but than all of Seattle is magical for me.
Love the strong silhouette and the detail of the thin cigarette between his fingers. Alone in front of the mob, and yet, he'll go, go !

A dark story! Excellent strong silhouette. Well done!!!

Extraordinary light...and a wonderful sense of mystery to this street image.

Awesome black & white!
I think the youth of today is often really misunderstood. Many older people have a set way of how things ought to be, but the youth of today is showing that a change is needed...

The worlds of light and shadow meet. Some people are comfortable in both worlds, some aren't. This is such a rich B&W image. Love it.

"East, baby, where the South Street floats into the sky / Tonight east is all I need to finally start to feel defined" (Marah)
I know I can only repeat myself but I have to say it again: What a beauty, Sharon! Your light, your frame & your tone make my days worth waking up. Thanks for this great one. All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
