Some leaves hang late, some fall
before the first frost--so goes
the tale of winter branches and old bones.

As always, an individual work of art, a perfect marriage of words and image. The detail and light captured here is exceptional, the tonality offers for my eyes a darkness, a contrast to the beauty of the scene, almost a juxtaposition of life and death. The beauty of mother nature's leaves, the sudden savagery of the elements and ultimate demise. We are born and prosper, we bloom and perish but the seasons remain, and the cycle continues. Just my interpretation, and a wonderful image.

This image has so much visual interest and contrast between the frost and the details on the leaves! An awesome mix of tones! I'm impressed because you have to usually get up early for this frost and it is quite cold!! The quote goes so well with this image and with life!

Cold and crisp and brittle and evocative...and beautiful in black and 'frost.'

This is such a delicious image, Sharon. And moving one. We often feel like this, still in the frost and it's beautiful ! Poetry, nostalgia, feeling of taking care of these adorable leaves and that gorgeous monochrome of yours. All this make my morning ! Have a warmer yet as tender sunday, my dear S*

A clever compo, everything seems so perfectly posed, installed... Nature has its own sens of aesthetism finally... Nothing to do, except take a camera and shoot. Isn't this a perfect model Sharon ? I'm sure you agree. Have a great day.

Nice composition and nice choice to use B&W with that tone. It almost takes the chill out of the first frost.

It's amazing the way the frost defines the edges of leaves that might get lost otherwise in a black and white photo. It's a natural highlight and a beautiful one at that. I really like the detail in this, excellent image.
6 Dec 2009 3:54pm
Many, many pictures that I like about you ... And hop! In my favorite blogs!

a faaabulous welcome for this years winter -- and i have this strange feeling it is going to get really cold!!! :) beautiful tones and textures here -- these icy leaves, a true representation of our stormy night of snowy, icy rain yesterday evening here in NYC!!

Such a contrast to the heat we are having right now! We never get to experience the cold like you folk do, but it means that we miss out on the opportunity to take magical images like this - it's really beautiful.

Great composition in your genuine style, I like it very much associated with these lines of WCW.
This is a question that I miss in the fantastic interview by Alessandro that I have just read and enjoyed.
I think that the interaction between poetry and photography is decissive in your art.
