There is nothing to be afraid of
it is only the wind
changing to the east
it is only your father the thunder
your mother the rain

Always a work of art with your photography, Sharon. Hauntingly beautiful, this could grace the pages of a magazine or book, or be used in an advertisement. So many storylines from one shot. Amazing

oh just lovely, almost makes me feel like having a quick cry, i'm not sure why...
5 Jan 2010 5:25am
Great movement of the water in the left side and the street of this other, like catching this girl and hers thinkings...just the wind yes sir!
5 Jan 2010 5:41am
Beautiful verse for this photo, I like the (unusual) color and misterious suggestion of the composition.

Like this one! Nice contrast the umbrella and the water!!
5 Jan 2010 10:16am
There's something very oniric here, I like this red umbrella against this grey/blue sea and sky. Like a sun in the horizon.
A very Happy New Year to you Sahron and my best wishes.
5 Jan 2010 11:36am
a lonely planet with lonely humans? No, there are dugs on the water. You're not alone. But the idea is just a good one. Have a nice day, a.h.lex.
5 Jan 2010 12:22pm
A haunting picture to go with Margaret's poetry. Well done Sharon! ;-)
5 Jan 2010 12:50pm
Lovely composition! The red spot of the umbrella adds some magic here.
5 Jan 2010 1:01pm
Awesome ! I like colors and composition which bring melancholic atmosphere.
5 Jan 2010 1:23pm
Ecellent picture where the red paraluie conraste with the blue image. everything is in the suggestion and it happens here a lot of feelings and sadness.
5 Jan 2010 1:27pm
The color surprised me, but with the red umbrella I see how you couldn't resist. The ducks are always a joy for me. We rarely see them near our home.
5 Jan 2010 2:19pm
A delightful view amid a day of gloom, peaceful place but cold wet weather, red and blues, flock and solitude... what an image of contrasts and exceptional mood! Wonderful choice of tonality and vignette to heighten the mood! Beautiful work Sharon... easily my pic of the day!
5 Jan 2010 2:24pm

5 Jan 2010 4:29pm
I like this red umbrella in all this blue rhapsody :)) It breaks up all monotony and melancholy !
5 Jan 2010 4:37pm
The little red shelter from the wind and rain. The muted colors here are quite nice.
5 Jan 2010 5:01pm
Beautiful. I like the subdued colors - lightened a bit by the red umbrella abd the severly vignetted corners.
5 Jan 2010 5:37pm
I'm reminded of a piece of fruit, Sharon, for some reason! I want to reach out and pick it up and eat it....
5 Jan 2010 6:16pm
Nothing to be afraid of, and yet, we need the umbrella to feel more secure. This one could turn & turn on her shoulder, i can feel her quiet, in deep thoughts, her eyes over the horizon & facing mom & dad's return souvenir (rain & thunder - and i also see another family sign with the ducks family). I like the lines, the curve on the right echoing the umbrella's. No, nothing to be afraid of, and that sounds so cool. Thanks for the story your compo & soft tones offer, Sharon ~
5 Jan 2010 6:38pm
wonderful shot - everything about it is lovely
5 Jan 2010 8:49pm
Most of the time you don't see people carry an red umbrella, as a matter of fact, it's probably hard to find a red umbrella. Yet, this picture will never be so artful without a red umbrella! Did you plan that red umbrella, Anna? :-)
5 Jan 2010 10:29pm
Oops, I mean Sharon. :-) I was talking to Anna from my office minutes ago.... :-)
5 Jan 2010 10:31pm
Something enigmatic about umbrellas . . one like this transforms a photograph so delightfully.
5 Jan 2010 11:58pm
The shot is great, not doubt about that, but what really impressed me was the line of the birds on the water. It has added a lot to the composition!

I think I have just realized what makes you photographs such beautiful art. It's those small quote/poems that you write... usually they carry the whole essence of your photograph, Sharon.
6 Jan 2010 1:33am
wowowowow. beautiful shot, my friend and I have been dying to do a shot like this for months now (but neither of us have a red umbrella) would this, by any chance be a reference to the Mayday Parade umbrella man?
