I like the rich sepia very much and the wet pavement. The tree with the brick around it is a surprise.

Wonderful picture that really tells what is said in the quote. The cropping gives a great composition.

Sepia tones are quite rare at your place and I enjoy a lot this hot chocolated one and her dreams arising slowly (to colors, soon, for sure ;)
8 Jan 2010 8:41am
Beautiful shot. I love the color. As well as the blurry effect, making it almost like a dream.
8 Jan 2010 11:33am
Cinematic quality. Smoky tobacco feel to it (just without the nicotine, chemicals, tar, etc...) - just the good stuff. :)
8 Jan 2010 11:44am
Fantastic light!! It somehow reminds me of an old movie 'still'.
8 Jan 2010 12:20pm
Lovely low light glow, she looks happy or perhaps she knew she was in the frame and it's a wry smile?
8 Jan 2010 12:29pm
This is massive coloring but it fits so great to this scene - makes it moodly. Oh I like it :D ... As always, this kind of captures makes me crazy. Thanks for sharing!

@Liang: Thanks Liang! This photo and the previous one are my first attempts at using Lightroom. There is still so much to learn and I guess I will be a work in progress for awhile yet :)
Beautifully shot & with your processing it makes it an awesome image.
Ah found memories of walking down GASTOWN a few years ago

Wonderful selective focus. Love that face. Beautiful tones. Excellent quote.

Lots of mystery in this photo. She seems to have a blank, almost unconscious expression ao you wonder what is in her mind. The rich sepia and the limited DoF are also positive elements.
8 Jan 2010 3:52pm
She has such a pensive expression... nice shot! :)

Then I have been for quite some time according to the quote. As for your photo, the state of sheer contemplation is magnificently illustrated and recorded. Gentle travel in mind.

I knew the location as soon as the image loaded, Sharon, from the building behind. Good old Gastown named after Gassy Jack, the founding seaman. My nephew lives and runs his own buisness just a few moments away ansd we spend so much time down there. A terrific shot, which almost mirrors my face and emotions when in this wonderful part of the East downtown . The ambiance and light, and your angle and processing really rock.
I lost a lot of my old photographs including an entire shoot in Vancouver which really upset me, so I will be making up for that when we return. If I can capture anything remotely as beautiful as this shot, Sharon, I'll be a very happy man.

i love the tones and softfocus great shot!
10 Jan 2010 5:36am
Exquisite image that hits us at an angle of shot and very good composition. B & N is great.
A greeting.
10 Jan 2010 12:34pm
Great shot, and this pensive figure of a woman, great composition and the delicate shade of sepia fantastic.
10 Jan 2010 12:53pm
It would be nice to think that she was aware of you taking the shot and that the minutest suspicion of a smile suggests that she took it as a compliment. Wonderful diagonal balance of the tree and the woman.
The image has an interesting association with the characterstics of 'film noir'.
