Shadows...........The SHARON's strike.........Excellent...
11 Feb 2010 7:20am
the way the figures are, reminds me of the evolution of man, from crouched to fully upright :) very nice shot, it's amazing how you find so many obliging mysterious figures lol
11 Feb 2010 7:37am
A lovely moody silhouette, so little but it say's so much.
11 Feb 2010 7:47am
I particularly like the negative space and the lines of the benches.
The figures do seem overshadowed, literally and figuratively.
11 Feb 2010 7:47am
lovely image, lonley people...its a mood that we all have and you succeded to capture it very well
11 Feb 2010 7:48am
A perfect frame. The black and white one speaks to us over there of cold days.
Warm greetings

Your quote illuminates the mute dialogue between those two, wonderfully - nothing that dark can't be illuminated from the inside, I do agree, love the caressing branches in the upper part that frames the image with sweetness ~
11 Feb 2010 8:50am
Wonderful silhouetted figures. They somehow speak to their alone-ness and words unsaid. Loved your post over at vision and verb today!!!
11 Feb 2010 9:02am
It's easy to notice that individuals in urban society's quite often blank out eye contact and/or verbal communication with others. I get the feeling that exactly the same is happening here in your image. Society's attitudes are often uncompromising and unforgiving and insular.
I suggest this might be a potent and yet ominus vision of things to come Sharon.

Very beautiful story that is told here. A man who abandons one that seems to need help. Sad reality...
11 Feb 2010 12:10pm
A wonderful sense of isolation in this shot Sharon! Well done! ;-)
PS...How was the Olympic Opening rehearsal last night???? Did you sneak a camera in???
11 Feb 2010 12:38pm
The game of natural frame works well here - have you see that first time before you shot? This is one of the pictures I think about, that they are really great composed!
11 Feb 2010 12:49pm
I can't explain in inglish what I feel in this picture !! but I like it very much !!:)
11 Feb 2010 2:20pm
Fantastic shot, Sharon. Love the framing, the figure on the bench partially enveloped by the fog. Loved your post at visionandverb.com today!! You are a writer!!

As dormant hibernation ... Each turn is the custodian of the place.
I like the silhouette of the tree envelope composition.
11 Feb 2010 3:12pm
Excellent moody composition and excellent quote.
11 Feb 2010 5:05pm
Yes an excellent mood in this shot Sharon - great framing with the tree on the right & the bench on the left framing the figures
11 Feb 2010 5:39pm
so many questions in one image, are they together, is he leaving, are they fighting, the framing is perfect, the processing compliments the the questions to be asked
11 Feb 2010 5:42pm
A very aesthetically pleasing image with the overwhelming presence of the man walking by.
11 Feb 2010 5:53pm
Beautifully composed! I love the tree on the right! Great framing. I also like the mood. BRAVO!

12 Feb 2010 2:15am
I always enjoy your solitude, melancholy figures, hate comparisons but they are like a Leonard Cohen song.
12 Feb 2010 2:20am
hauntingly beautiful...Love how it is framed...the b/w makes the image...
12 Feb 2010 2:35am
Aux antipodes de ce que je fais pourtant... j'aime beaucoup ton style.

Hello everyone and thank you all so much for your comments and feedback. Sorry I've not been around lately but my work schedule has increased dramatically over the past few weeks and will continue through the month of February.
All you all know the Olympic Games are in Vancouver and this city is madhouse, and so very exciting :)
It's a challenge trying to get around and commute back and forth to work, as I find myself working 6 days a week this month. I hope to visit you all very soon.

This is a great shot. I love the three benches, two with solitary figures almost mimicking each other. Those elements are so strong but visually kind of small that I would have preferred this photo without the tree, though it may have been impossible to get an angle. Just an observation.
12 Feb 2010 4:06am
@Dustin: Thanks Dustin and hmmmm. You know, I wonder if it's possible without the tree. I'll have to have another look, and wait for a foggy day :)
A wonderful image with so much going on in its desolate isolation....great work!

"There are things I've done I can't erase / I wanna look in the mirror and see another face / I said "never", but I'm doin' it again / I wanna walk away and start over again" (Tom Waits)
What a monument of solitude & melancholy. What a brilliant capture. Appearing so soft & telling kind of lonely stories at the same time. A great composition, a great photograph, Sharon! All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

Very atmospheric and moody. The image and words work so well together here.
12 Feb 2010 8:19pm
another one of bluechameleon's patented shots! great silhouette and mood as usual.
12 Feb 2010 8:26pm
this is lovely! it feels very bleak and moody. well done!
13 Feb 2010 12:37am
great composition BC...but my immediate take was that the man we see walking was sitting on the bench and left his worries behind him, there on the bench, and got up and walked away...i don't know, maybe cause the silhouette of the man walking is darker black, the hunched over man on the somewhat gray/black bench his shadow of worry...like shedding a cocoon...whatever...it speaks to me...
13 Feb 2010 12:50pm
bonsoir,
a beautiful composition..An amazing range of tones...Bravo!

So effortlessly expressive . . starts telling a story the moment it loads.
