"If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger: I should not seem a part of it."

A beautiful image so rich in the black and white tones, and full of mood and promise....

I find it eerie and menacing. best...jerry

A great composition. The B&W are really beautiful...I love the atmosphère

Photo & title touch me a lot and i can relate to both. The character in the background seems the tiniest of all this exhausted trees arriving all at the end of a certain road. Hopefully, the next one will be more blossomful and will allow him some rebirth and new gathering of sister-souls. Spring is coming, let's re-appear slowly but surely. (Love the almost diagonally compo too with white Up & black Down parts). Very clever mood*) Have a sweet week, my dear ~

Very powerful image. The landscape floating in the fog adds to the tension. Great story!

Only sound of water can be heard. Silence rules the world. Melancholic atmosphere moved me a lot.

You create always such a fantastic mood with your shots.

You have created a wonderfully melancholic mood in this shot Sharon! Well done! ;-)

This photo talks to me about the loneliness, the dark loneliness, not the enjoyable :)
22 Mar 2010 12:54pm
Paired with the quote, this image seems lonely as if this person will now walk through life in a fog. Very strong processing.

A beautiful shot !!! Very nice B & W !! love it !
22 Mar 2010 1:43pm
Une photo sombre et mystérieuse mais je crois qu'il ne faut pas se fier aux apparences!
22 Mar 2010 2:03pm
You have a distinct way of extracting so much feeling from a photograph that it becomes the story in itself. This is a wonderful example.

Perfectly paired prose and picture. Extraordinary!!
22 Mar 2010 4:34pm
Love it. I love the left side how the rock just disappear into the atmosphere & the little person sandwiched between large trees.
22 Mar 2010 5:15pm
The tiny figure in the distance plays an essential role, the meaning with it is one world apart from the one without it.
22 Mar 2010 6:03pm
i do like the mood caused by the mist/fog in this scene.. great capture.. :)
22 Mar 2010 6:28pm

love your mysterious approach. seems like this shot can be in a horror flick. =)
23 Mar 2010 12:37am
Your use of the vignette adds to the atmosphere, and the placement of the lone figure near the curve of the vignette leads our eye to him.
23 Mar 2010 1:32am
I see the figure in the distance, small but so important.
23 Mar 2010 1:35am
Great B&W and I love what the vignette adds to the composition.
23 Mar 2010 2:23am
A great B&W composition and wonderful landscape, well done !
23 Mar 2010 4:48am
I think this is very moody and dull, but it makes it a great "story" together with the title and the words. Another example of your ability to see this stories in your pictures and words, that I admire so much!

black and white photos show and give a different character other than color photos. This is Great! Bravo!!
23 Mar 2010 8:35am
Me gusta la diagonal que juega con toda la composición, y la soledad de la figura adentrándose en la niebla. Muy buena.
Un abrazo

Hauntingly beautiful, serene and calming. A scene I would want to walk ionto, braced against the cool air, sucking in the sights and sounds, the ambiance. Superbly captured.

24 Mar 2010 3:35am
A picture with great power...the composition uses starkness to great advantage leading the eye to the little figure that manages to 'dominate' the frame! A perfect match of image and great words!!
24 Mar 2010 5:33am
Great great mood!! Excellent compo. and many thanks for your comment :)

25 Mar 2010 12:38am
A wonderful image - and like some of the commenters before me, I think you have captured the spirt of loneliness here.
25 Mar 2010 4:27am
Very nice; I like the vignetting and foggy appearance.
25 Mar 2010 5:37am
the mood and drama captured here are amazing, the person in shot way at the back enhances this feeling even more
25 Mar 2010 12:47pm
The lone tree, the lone person walking off into the horizon...this is very moody indeed, Sharon.
25 Mar 2010 12:51pm

Great concept and awesome execution. Really stunning work!
27 Mar 2010 9:57pm
So lonely and desolate. You almost don't notice the lone figure walking the path, but the eye follows it and there he is. Well done, Sharon.
