"Death must be so beautiful.
To lie in the soft brown earth
with the grasses waving above one's head
and listen to silence.
To have no yesterday
and no to-morrow.
To forget time
to forgive life
to be at peace."

A nice textural grainy vignette featuring the lonely cross.... very effective.
Sylvia Plath's writings about death were prophetic, weren't they.
Unfortunately death called to her more insistently than life.

"Ghettos to the left of us / Flowers to the right / There'll be bread for all of us / If we can just bear the cross" (Prince)
Been away for far too long but now I'm back to dive into your beauties. Excellent composition & what a great photograph! All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

Dark mood in this image, according with Silvia Plath lines.

Love Sylvia Plath and this is a fitting image for her poem. The 'eye ball' perspective works well.

Death is like a planet here, next one in view, but not already. Love Sylvia Plath, even if the poor sweetie was so much swallowed by death during her life, is she full of life on the Deads' planet ? The white cross and the little holes in the bricky concrete stuff seem like a couple, side by side... Intriguing, disturbing but so interesting since that is taboo but to be considered if we wanna be good human being/living.

Great treatment on this shot Sharon! It leaves one to ponder the + of one's existence! Bravo! ;-)

What a brilliant shot with the lomo fisheye, the grave stone is wickedly cool, the grain on the film is amazing. One of my favourite shots of yours so far.

Hauntingly good and the combo of the Lomo and the fisheye is unbeatable for creating atmosphere like this.

It has the feel to a grave marked in the old west of the USA. Like we've just come upon it. Nicely done.

I love your shadow in this spherical image. A haunting image (forgive me). I am enjoying the blowing grasses while standing among the wind-swept blades. I am curious about the adventure of returning to that other side. But see no need to rush the moment. ...being...

A carefully crafted and haunting image. Another work of genius.

I am always astonished by the words of Sylvia Platt, someone who lived so close to death. Lately I've been attending a few funerals it does wear you out, or maybe it prepares you.

I'm very disturb by the words and by the dark mood of this shot... May be there is a part of truth and may be some time we aspire to that... no yesterday, no tomorrow, just to be in peace...

This story raises more questions than it answers! I'm fascinated by the cement block next to the cross. Why is it discarded by the grave? Does the cross even mark a grave? The cross looks like a Celtic cross-- in the desert? I think this is the opening scene in a novel...

A haunting quality to this wonderful image...the grain is lovely...fabulous mood and the words are perfectly placed to express the sentiment...great work!

Wow haunting shot and that poem is really beautiful too. A good friend just died this past week so death has been on my mind alot lately.

One of the most wonderful use of the lomo I've seen for a while! So simple the composition yet so strong and bewildering the atmosphere... sad, haunting one moment, peaceful and beautiful the other... just magical Sharon!!! PS. Love how you included your own shadow that adds wonderfully to the air of mystery!

What a powerful quote to accompany this moving image. Excellent!!

Always at your place so thought-provoking shots...
Death is our common perspective. For a long time i've thought : "it can happen so suddenly, so don't waste your time, do what you want to do as soon as you can, go for it now" today i would say "it's not what you do but how you do it, so take care of Life, yours and others', and maybe death will be a less frightening horizon" As S. Path, I'd like to die in peace.

I have longed for some new shots from your lomo with the fish-eye. You really have absolute mastery of making something real great with this technique. Interesting capture and with those words of Sylvia Plath it gives me much to see and think..
12 Apr 2010 11:05am
love this shot! the fisheye really makes it feel as if your looking into something forbidden, and your shadow creeping in reminds me that we'll all be there one day
