Great capture and words to go with it. The skin shows this person's battle scars. But it looks like he's still laughing. GReat!

Amazing. A perfect moment which can only be taken with a pocket cam. You did it! Oh wow ... I really love this work! Fine fine fine ^^ ...

Disturbing, perplexing, provocative....in other words, another wonderful image, Sharon ! :-)

Suggestive image, with a bit of mysterious air :)

Oh, i was on this kind of message with my yesterday's post and love your words & image to express this. His cool posture is in such beautiful contradiction with the pain we can guess... It moves me a lot, plus your presence in his back, so close & respectful...

you always manage to find excellent shots again you have not failed

Another great image. The composition is excellent, allthough it must be a snapshot. The words and your motive makes it very moving.

A wonderful evocative image you have captured Sharon! Super composition! Bravo! ;-)

quite a witty image at first and then you start to think about it a bot more and maybe its quite a dark and unhappy image- either way it gets you thinking and thats good!
10 Jun 2010 2:36pm
Poignant but real! Poignant cause it's real!!! How many heartbreaking stories this is telling! Simple yet powerful composition!
10 Jun 2010 3:18pm
Strong and clever stuff . . that activist quote from Mr Rollins suits this so well !
10 Jun 2010 3:33pm
Awfully tough for some people to move on.
10 Jun 2010 3:55pm
Great "on the spot' capture... what is the person doing there? Is there a smile on his face? :)
10 Jun 2010 4:27pm
A brutal shot though we can't see her (I suspect she is a woman)... the scars/wrinkle on the shoulder, on her skin... she seems thin, too thin... and her attitude, as she were truly relaxing (like most of us can do in a bench, in a garden) contrasts so toughly with the place... dirty, hard.
A remarquable angle (surpringly, she is smiling) and a powerful documentary image. Bravo Sharon.

quite a sad scene.. but at least he looks laidback in that pose.. :) nice candid shot.. :)
10 Jun 2010 8:47pm
A powerful image. You would think she would be sad and yet she's smiling. The scarred are tougher than we imagine, perhaps.

Nice shot, I like the perspective here. The depth is very nice here.

"They say you've got to lose a couple fights to win / It's hard to tell from where I'm sitting / They say that this is where the fun begins / I guess it's time that I was quitting" (The Avett Brothers)
What can I say, Sharon? An amazing photograph. Somehow sad & so masterly composed because showing the respect to people that seem to run out of luck. All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

that is a great find....you photographic eye is watching everywhere!
11 Jun 2010 8:33am
a bit sad to see this, yet it seems unreal. great framing and nice "pose" here!

@Liang: Unfortunately I see this sort of thing more than anyone really should. The homeless situation here is bad, but then I guess that most major cities have similar situations. Generally I don't like to shoot these people, but for me it was because of her position on the ground that made it interesting. She was right out of her mind, perhaps high on crack or something else, and causing quite the scene at this bus/train station. When I took this she has just settled down.
Fabulous. Your eye for this shot is superb. Nicely captured.

Very hard life indeed. She stays at the lowest level, lying down at the level of the street.
12 Jun 2010 7:38am
Excellent street capture. The gov logo gives it an extra twist.
12 Jun 2010 7:41pm
Really like it. The logo "canada" give a great touch!

Your images are always charged with emotion, Sharon, and this one has caused a physical reaction to the emotion that I'm feeling. Well done. Excellent pairing with the quote, too.
13 Jun 2010 4:49am
So powerful! The frailty of her (?) arm against all that concrete. Very good work Sharon. You impress over and over again!
13 Jun 2010 4:25pm
Powerful..painful image. Love how so little...tells so much of a atory.

I work as a Commercial Photographer here in Singapore. Just loved the image composition and photographic expressions. Running a photo studio here in Singapore, we do mainly professional headshots. It's great to see other works outside the studio environment. Thanks for sharing.

Love your frame, just a head, an harm, and we can easily guess all the story which takes place on this ground. The textures speak so well about hard life. We could have been the one who completely ignored this human presence where our feet are used to walking so fast. A grand photo, Sharon.

You always have ideas of extraordinary photos.
Always of beautiful particular moments.
