"I harbour all the same worries as most
The temptations to leave or to give up the ghost
I wrestle with an outlook on life
That shifts between darkness and shadowy light..."

Another of your enigmatic studies that somehow gather in our own thoughts and make them part of the image - we all relate to the emerging uncertainties here, like it or not.

beautiful perspective, lines and dark mood ! I love it ! it's quite my favorite kind of photo ! superb long exposure which made the silhouette like a ghost, love the vignetage and the framing ! a great picture, Sharon !

Nice, dark tones. I like this shot with the motion blur of the silhouette. Great.

Of course this image touches me a lot, the ghostly (and so human) presence, the running railings, the light fighting hard with the Dark, seems also a view from an opening eye, an eye stuck with too much sleep, when you open them again after a long sicky sleep and don't see clearly (or just when, like me, you wear contact lenses and don't see clearly when you wake up the world you'll step in in a sec). Many things in this rich image, as always here a lot of Soul(s).
I looked for a quote to offer you today, Sharon. I found this one, by Nathalie Sarraute, a famous french writer.
"Poetry, in a body of work, is what makes the invisible appear". You sure are that poet-photographer for me. Take care, dear you*

@k@: Thanks so much Karine...your words and presence are appreciated.
when the sunlight falls watch the shadow man to appear on the pier

Well done Sharon! The ghost-like figures show that we are all slaves to the sun god! Bravo! ;-)

Very beautifully composed. I love the focus on the rail, leading to the shadowy man. The ominous light in the muddled sky is excellent. The dark processing supports the loneliness and darkness your image suggests. Beautiful!

the beautiful lines of flight and a nice athmosphere!
Five stars!
kiss!

This wonderful music and lyrics of David Sylvian gets a very beautiful and soulful interpretation in your photography. You really catches the essence of that song ,the very sameway as his great video for the song. A wonderful picture, saying so much, even more than the words.

+ great effect with that long-exposure. I often wonder, looking at your pictures and reading the lyrics, wich comes first the picture or the words? Interesting works anyway and always!

Great image... and love the light coming from the off-camera sun. :)

Beautiful atmosphere with this ghostly silhouette ! Very nice !
28 Sep 2010 6:35am
A fantastic geometrical perspective, sharpened as a knife, contrasting this ghostly silhouette and the softness of a long shutter speed... he seems swallowed by horizon...
28 Sep 2010 7:59am
I like the ghosty person walking on the pier. Beautiful mood with the shining moon.
28 Sep 2010 10:48am
A fantastic shot wonderfully executed. I love the perspective and vanishing point and the motion captured by the exposure generates a great mood.
28 Sep 2010 11:55am
Dark exposure, motion blur and strong perspective. They made this pic mysterious and thrilling. I like it a lot.
28 Sep 2010 1:25pm
Super perspective, light and sense of mystery. I enjoy the focus and depth, too. Outstanding work!

As if seen with "tunnel" vision.
A thought-provoking image to which the viewer can attach his/her own story.
Lovely contrast and vignetted corners !!
29 Sep 2010 2:50am
I really like the eerie feel of this mostly from the blur and the ghost like figure. The vignette adds to the feeling as well. Nice work.

it's a long way to the enlightenment, there are some shadows en route to get over - and sometimes everything seems to be blurry... -
I return every day to this image and take a breath.
29 Sep 2010 7:20am
i love the way you composed this with a clear vanishing point. the figure blurred adds a great touch! excellent mood and bw lighting!
29 Sep 2010 7:28pm
A very atmospheric image, the desolation made me think of Edward Munch. Wonderful.

Great ghost like effect, looks like an album cover.

"See for 10 long years I've been hustling around / Tryin' to wash the sins and sweat from my brow / Just trying to find a better life for me and my own / Just some rest for these tired working fingers" (The Gaslight Anthem)
Stunning composition, Sharon. Words can't describe how much I love these vanishing points of yours. Leaves me speechless once more drowning in this beauty. So beautiful! All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
