Almost symmetrical apart from the lamp posts, a lot of impact in this shot

This is a beautiful bridge..Love the balance and the line of perspective
that carries me into the center of it all. Lovely dark tones, practically a silhouette.

Yet to wander in such a straight path might not be that easy ;) Super great lines all over the frame, i love the geometry, the design, the elegance of the lamp post, and the fact we feel swallowed up by the perspective. Once the bridge passed, yep, let's be lost & wander free, it's to be open to what Life proposes i guess and i'm each day more smiling to this very road. Have a nice week in-between the superb lines (really powerful are those vertical ones, like standing up with strengh).

Is it taking me somewhere or leading me to nowhere. What an amazing composition, Sharon. Thta even comes up stronger combining it with the terrific Anatole France quote. Amd you always manage to get me all hypnotized with your minimalistic treasures. Great! All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

wonderful strong blog you present.
Love these dark BW you so well process, and your excellent compositions with fine use of light and graphism

It is like a way to the infinite, the almost nonexistent light still conditions plus that way. The plomizo sky seals the photography.
Warm greetings

The perfect symmetry in the picture really emphasizes the harmony between man and universe, as in the quote of Anatole France. The very greyish mood makes it in a way very fateful. An interesting picture.

a very simbolic picture where I feel a new world behind.
25 Oct 2010 8:28am
The bridge and its geometric architecture help up leading our stares to the sky. To a grey and dull horizon/country.

As many are saying here, crossing such an outwardly physical bridge like this empathizes the sense of time, distance and our little place in the world. A very strong image bordering on the emotional.

It looked just as stormy when I crossed it two weeks ago in the driving rain! Nicely done Sharon! ;-)

@Eric Cousineau: I can just image. It's been raining here pretty hard for the most part...not much sun these days.
Now I hope you didn't stop on the bridge to take the shot? :-) Or you were in the passenger seat? You must had planned for this because the windshield is spotless! :-)
Every time I tried to take a shot while driving my wife would start nagging at me... :-)
25 Oct 2010 1:24pm
@Ti: Thanks Ti. No, no stopping on the bridge, just shooting from the passenger seat while crossing. Not sure how clean the windshield was though...passable for this shot at least.
The symmetry and depth of perspective are perfectly obtained by the point of view, and indeed one wonders how to make this picture. In all cases, the universal laws seem easy to follow by watching this photo ;)

Excellent shot in B & W! wonderful perspective...
love the symmetry and details...

Absolutely beautiful. great balance and beautiful lines and symmetry !

Lovely bridge - and it looks like you were about to be dumped on with rain. I'll bet it is nice walking across that bridge at night!
26 Oct 2010 1:02am
@Mark Johnson: Thanks Mark. Tne rain did hold off that day, but it's been raining pretty hard here since September! The bridge is really cool at night, but very noisy as well.
the grey is taking us merciless. These lines could be the last structures to get hold. The lamps don't emit light, so where do we go?

Wonderful framing here! Driving with one hand and shooting with the other??? haha
26 Oct 2010 8:45am
@Brian S Chen: Thanks Brian. Heh heh...no, I was a passenger for this shot :)
Exceptional lines. I like the sense of standing in the middle of the road:-)

A strong almost symmetrical composition and an interesting perspective. To take the shot from the middle of the road, you're in a car ??
26 Oct 2010 2:08pm
it reminds me of the bay bridge here in norcal, love the angle and symmetrical look!
26 Oct 2010 9:01pm
i've always had the urge to take a snap when passing through huge bridges like this.. :) very nice capture..
26 Oct 2010 10:20pm
it looks like a wonderful place to hang one's knickers.
the sky is amazing, for being lifeless and gray and full of almost dread.

A fabulous photo! I hope you weren't driving at the time? :)

Compelling and imposing... and your wonderful b&w tone is adding emotions and making it even more expressive!!! Great eye and perfect timing to catch the sight! Have a great day Sharon!:-)

A gorgeous image. I love the silhouettes and symmetry.

Great capture! Lots for the eye to do.

I love the mood in this superb composition there is so much 'movement' in this perfectly 'still' image, and the words couldn't be truer....great work:)

Great composition... I wonder how you were able to stand in the middle of the bridge to take this shot with all he traffic going on?! :)

I like the dark mood and the perspective
