The picture of a solitary soul standing at the edge...the immensity of life stretching out before her.
Beautiful contrast and intense light.

"And then I will fill the ocean back up with my tears / I still have a couple more years / And then I can come back to the harbour" (Tom Waits)
A great sense of lonesomeness, black water & your signature light make this beauty so special, Sharon. Pulled in, caged & hypnotized I stand here & can't get this brilliant minimalistic frame out of my head. Great!
All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

As a human sculpture but contemplating the wonder of the sea ... ecstatic! I really like the composition ... giving prominence to the person and the object of desire. The sky has disappeared ... very good! Best regards, Adela

Strange how this makes the mind start writing a story to accompany the emotions of the image . . and how convincing the story (every story!) becomes.

Très bonne compo , le personnage semble être plongé dans ses pensées en regardant cette belle lumière qui carresse cette eau !!

Maybe she is singing "I cover the waterfront, I'm watching the sea, Will the one I love come back to me?" Fine example of a moody shot.

Me gusta la composición, la diagonal que forma el mar en la orilla y la soledad que transmite la toma. Excelente.
Un abrazo

I really consider that water acts like a recollection of memories... like the waves, endlessly coming to and fro.
Love beeing her "human factor". Great compo Sharon, and I love the feel of nostalghia here as well.

An excellent composition isolating the woman against the water. The tones are wonderful. Love it.

Oh Sharon, can't tell you how I'm moved by this! Just can't take my eyes (and mind) off her... So simple, so everyday, yet through your gifted eye, intuitive composition and masterful rendering, the moment is turned into a timeless picture of romance... melancholy, solitude, hope, lasting love... One of my recent favorites!

Your photos--like this one--have a great sense of drama and sensitivity. The black-and-white adds a lot of emphasis as well. I look forward to visiting your blog many more times. Thanks for sharing your work.

Don't
Jump...
...
I love the drama feel here, and also the hope with the voice coming back to her and hopefully filling her with love again... Very beautiful and rich on a soulful way (so often the case here...)

@k@: Luckily she moved on as the wind picked up. It was awfully cold that day. Thanks so much for you kind words Karine :)
Is she just watching the sea ? If so, that's OK, but if she is thinking something sad, I have to say, Don't jump, There will be something better, something happy !

@Hiro: I think she must have just been watching the waves. It was a cold day, so she didn't stand there too long :)
There is so much sadness and melancholuy in this piture. You hav really captured the mood in this brilliant composition.

I can hear the waves lapping, the lonely cry of an unseen seagull and the silence of a heart breaking.... an image that stirs such familiar emotions for who has not loved and lost... so beautifully composed from that high view point with a lovely tonal range... a brilliant capture, as always...
