haha. I would not want to run into a centipede of that size.

A superb use of light and composition. The black levels are perfect, as is the clarity and bokeh to frame right. Aside from all the groovy technical aplomb, it's an interesting shot in its own right as a well seen moment!

"Centipede".........A formation by Keith Tippett in the 70'S......The word brings back just a souvenir......And I like the Funny of your picture...
22 Feb 2011 7:01am
The back-lighting and contrasts make the shadows really work. I love the caption, too. Thanks for the smiles!
22 Feb 2011 7:16am
BRAVO. This is laugh-out-loud wonderful and amusing and ridiculous. Marvelous shot.
22 Feb 2011 7:41am
Wonderful backlit capture with a funny title. This unusual ‘threesome’ made me smile.
22 Feb 2011 8:07am
tu as su accentuer la situation comique enfaisant apparaitre les chiens et le personnage en silhouettes noirs!J'adore la lumière dans les cheveux!Excellent!
22 Feb 2011 8:16am
Great back-lighting and B/W! I love the scene!:)
22 Feb 2011 8:20am
Excellente cette photo en contre jour !!!
Une compo parfaite !!
Bravo !!!

The Teutonic god Oden or Wotan had a horse, Sleipner, with eight feet. I guess it looked something like this when he walked his horse. OK, horses were smaller then but perhaps a little larger than this peculiar animal.

It must be Tuesday! :-)
I can see it's still very cold up there? What a fine time for me to pick for vacation there, hope it'll warm up a bit next week when I get there....
22 Feb 2011 1:56pm
@Ti: Ah, I guess so. I don't participate in "Silly Tuesday" but I guess I did by accident ;-) We are supposed to get a bunch of snow over the next few days and then the temperatures drop down to -8C. Personally I hope it stays for awhile as I would love to have some sort of winter here.
ROFL.....a super capture for a Silly Tuesday Sharon! Well done! ;-))))

No danger here to get lost in the concrete jungle if you got two companions to get one through the day. Love your always great play with light & shadow. Excellent frame to go with the always great Albert Camus, Sharon! All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
22 Feb 2011 2:54pm
Centipede or ish called Wanda...Last one is more funny (much more...) and fits better to that funny capture...
22 Feb 2011 3:10pm
Ha ha...such a lovely picture...superbly seen and captured! The title and image really bring a grin on! The light is more than perfect:))
22 Feb 2011 3:51pm
Wow, what a wonderful shot, Sharon! The strong contrast works really well here. The clever title makes me smile.
22 Feb 2011 4:30pm
A clever caption for an attractive photo. The commingle silhoulette of the dogs is humorous, and the backlit hair and the long thin legs between the skirt and the boots make the female figure attractive.
22 Feb 2011 4:44pm
Oh great!!! I guess travel light will be out of the question...and kiss the 21 C sunny days we have here goodbye... :-(
I hope flight won't be canceled...
I hope roads will be cleared to drive, from Seattle to Vancouver...
I hope ferry to and from Vancouver Island will be running...
.....because I've paid for all those for 3 people....
22 Feb 2011 5:20pm
Never a better illustration to that quote from Albert Camus ! Big ST smiles and more.
22 Feb 2011 5:46pm
A perfect backlighting. I really like the shadows that are projected.
22 Feb 2011 6:41pm
Good one Sharon, made me smile, appropriate title. Like the back lighting and the long shadows. Wonderful composition as always.
22 Feb 2011 7:42pm

23 Feb 2011 12:19am
lol... a happy street shot that has great highlights.
23 Feb 2011 1:09am
Great silhouette, the shadow looks like some being previously unknown to mankind.
23 Feb 2011 2:52am
It's adorable:-) We had two dogs that we hooked together like that for walks. That was many years ago. (One of them was a much faster runner and my hubby let them run in the park. The one nearly drug the other one to death. Wasn't funny at the time, but...:-) Neat image, Sharon. Brought back good memories for me.
23 Feb 2011 5:28am

@Ronnie 2¢: Really? The spotlight? I had no idea. That's what happens when I have an over the top hectic work week and no time to check anything here. Thanks for letting me know!
Hello Sharon, really brilliant picture that is both well taken and well seen. I laughed so much... thank you for that. You have a great sense of humour.

@k@: Karine....you are a dear. Thank you :)
I think we have proof of a new found animal species! Funny scene, good capture.
24 Feb 2011 8:25pm
@Howard F.: Hmm...never thought of that. I hear there is fame and fortune with the discovery of a new species. Should I stake my claim?
Amazing B&W shot ! Very impressive shot ! Well done, you're a great photographer and you've my vote on coolphotoblog from France for you ! I really love this shot ! I'm fan of your work !!!!!!!!!
24 Feb 2011 9:34pm
@Kevin P.: You're very kind Kevin...thank you so very much!
In spite of its numerous feet, I think the centipede is tired, lagging behind, otherwise this creature would be enthusiastically pulling the young lady along at speed. Excellent photo. :)
25 Feb 2011 7:11am
@gavin hart: Thank you Gavin. It's not easy being a centipede on a cold winters day. All those little feet, on the cold pavement. The horror!
fine composition with the long shadows and all the diagonal lines.
But the best is this strange animal, is this a so called double-dog? :-)
25 Feb 2011 9:03am
@grapf: Thank you :) Yes, that is a so-called double-dog trying to act like a centipede :D
A fine compo, with large shadows and this astonishing dog with 8 legs! Congratulations
25 Feb 2011 10:55am
Very funny, and very well observed (and captured !)
25 Feb 2011 12:00pm
Marvelous shot, a superb use of light and composition !
26 Feb 2011 1:33am

So well seen and captured! Congrats on the spotlight!
28 Feb 2011 4:57pm
1. This would have messed up Charles Darwin's evolutionary thinking.
2. I wonder how much she payed for this qwerky eight-legger.
3. I think this is very silly and would have embarressed and humiliated this lady if she had known what she was dragging along.
4. HCB and /or Robert Doisneau would have liked this .
5. Delightful capture BC
